So VERY welcome!!! A timely, concise, caring reminder that Wildness is the place of renewal, strength, and sanity. Thank you for this most excellent article.
When I was a kid, my father worked for the Mark Twain National Forest Service. Our baseball team was the "Smokey Bears." When they moved their offices 100 miles away, my dad quit to pursue his small business -- a Dry Cleaners. Family said, "NOBODY QUITS Civil Service!" But my mom didn't want to leave her Public teaching job, friends and family, either. When I was 17 -- after a lot of hard work -- we moved into a new 5000 sq. ft. home on 40 acres,, complete with indoor swimming pool. That is one of the reasons I LOVE AMERICA! P.S. When my parents divorced, they lost it all. And I was left with a mess to clean up! I have promised never to do that to my kids!
Tiffany, the tragedies you are describing -- of innocent people losing their jobs -- for me further illustrates the dysfunction and ineptitude of the Government "Establishment" that has existed long before Trump and Co. are "using it to their advantage." I would be totally in favor of allowing and assisting each individual, as well as whole Agencies to "prove their worth" and "justify their existence" BEFORE being fired or "shuttered." However, the status quo cannot continue -- we cannot afford it!
I totally blame Congress for not adhering to and upholding our Constitution. It tells us, line by line, how the Federal Government should function. One of those means is by having a (balanced) Budget. Oh, excuse me, that's just common sense. And, BTW, 'Leave the rest to the States and to the People," instead of redistributing our (borrowed) money as you see fit.
Seems like I read something like that in Project 2025.
Please ask your readers to write to Gov. Gianforte and ask him what he is doing to get these jobs reinstated. The Congress has a budget of $6.5 Billion dollars to pay staff, buy decorations for their offices, take wonderful trips around the world, buy votes, oh excuse me, throw campaign money raising shindigs, travel back and forth, pay travel expenses and whatever else they spend money on for themselves. The Congress could cut 20% and not miss a gala. Write Daines, Sheehy and Zinke and Downing and ask them what they have done to save money. How many of their staff have been laid off so far? All of them will benefit from the millionaire tax cut in the budget request currently being filibustered tonight by our Democrats. Call, write, go see them. We are getting together Friday at Zinke's office on W Broadway at noon, if you have time. I am getting no responses from our reps who do not have the guts to have a town hall here while they are on break until March 1. Thank you Tiffany for working your tail off to do what you can to inspire others!

I agree, Earth, our only home, is pretty and made to order for us and our fellow inhabitants. As to Mars, just follow the money . . .

Absolutely perfect, Tiffany.
