On election night in 2016, I made chicken enchilada soup. I invited my father-in-law to watch the election results. I tucked my kids into bed.
I didn’t conceive of a world where Donald Trump, a serial womanizer who bragged about grabbing women by the pussy, would ever be our president. I confidently thought we would watch that electoral map turn blue and dreamed of the moment I could wake my daughter up to tell her we have the first female president.
The alternative was unthinkable.
In a way, I’m grateful to Donald Trump. In 2016, I was a conservative Christian who had never spent much time considering the people outside the evangelical church. Trump exposed the rot in white evangelical Christianity, which cares more about money and power than the values that founded this country. Our country’s founders didn’t want to force Christianity, but establish religious freedom. They didn’t want the absolute abolishment of taxes, but taxes that serve the common good instead of wealthy overlords. They fought not for censorship, but freedom of expression.
I didn’t care about activism before Trump. I always felt like it was someone else’s job. But when he became president, I realized it’s on all of us to create a better world. I donated my time to Soft Landing Missoula, a refugee resettlement organization where I live. I became active in Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. And I started helping Democratic candidates get elected up and down the ballot.
What radicalized me? Donald Trump. He showed me that there is good and bad in all of us, and we get to choose who we want to be every day. I decided I wanted to be the kind of person who stands up for the voiceless and make this world safer for those in the margins.
When I first came across Project 2025 earlier this year, I couldn’t believe there were so few resources for it. So I decided to become one. I’ve spent the past seven months reading, analyzing, and researching Project 2025. I know it defies every one of our country’s principles.
This election I know how possible the unthinkable is. I know America could — again — reject an intelligent, warm, dedicated woman who has given her life to public service in favor of a narcissistic megalomaniac who wants to destroy the American experiment.
The other day my husband asked me what is going to happen with Project 2025 Takedown when the election is over. My answer is the same, regardless of who wins. We keep going. I keep writing. You keep reading. And we keep defending democracy.
I started Project 2025 Takedown to empower YOU to have critical conversations within your sphere of influence. I don’t know the people you know, but I do know how to help you talk to them.

Whatever happens tonight, this country is going to need our work to continue.
If the Heritage Foundation and other extremists get their way, and Trump becomes president again, it’s up to us to stand up against his plans to imprison political enemies, deport millions of people whether they are legal or not, abolish the Department of Education, criminalize pornography, and threaten teachers, scientists, artists, activists, gay couples, trans Americans, and so many others.
And if Harris prevails and ushers in a new chapter of America, one marked by hope, female empowerment, economic success for all, and religious neutrality, we keep going. We know Christian nationalists will never stop trying to erode our rights and freedoms.
But they don’t know who we are up against. We will never stop fighting for liberty.
Onward, Democracy Defenders.
Mrs. Williams, I admire and respect the work you do and the reasons you have for doing it. Keep up the good work!
Hi Tiffiny,
I think you're beautiful and have 2 beautiful children. I'm overjoyed to learn that you are an advocate for the freedoms of Americans. Our checks and balances system was put in place to protect our democracy, but with a dishonest leader, it causes a certain sector to be a follower of dishonesty. When Trump made the comment that he was a smart man by not paying the full amount of taxes he owes and that he is a very rich man....well he sets a poor example for our citizens. Hard working Americans who have to pay more taxes than the rich to keep our country intact while we have a wanna be fascist sitting in the white house could cause a revolt. I think people are afraid. But God is still in control and we need to place our faith in him and not a greedy human. Thanks for sharing this post.
