Something happened over the July 4 weekend: My notifications ballooned with talk about the dangers of Project 2025.
That was a welcome change. When I first started this substack in early April, information about Project 2025 was sparse. So I went straight to the source, reading all 920-pages of this authoritarian theocratic playbook for myself (and taking breaks to hyperventilate into a brown paper bag).
A few weeks later, I saw Rachel Bitecofer at an event and asked her tips for getting the word out about Project 2025. She encouraged Project 2025 Takedown and shared it with her friends.
If there’s one thing Rachel knows, it’s how to spread the word about the dire hardships Republicans have put America through. Her book Hit ‘Em Where It Hurts encourages Democrats to pursue a full-throttle truth-telling tour to win in 2024.
(Hello and thank you to everyone who is here from Rachel’s substack share!)
Rachel told me media would have to be saturated with Project 2025 information by this summer if it’s going to move the needle in favor of democracy in the 2024 election. So I felt hopeful when I saw more of my friends wising up to this fundamental threat to our freedom, justice, and equity.
My subscribers have catapulted in recent weeks, despite my substack not being shared by other substack users in a while. Remember that if Project 2025 Takedown is a resource for you, it will be a resource for others. Please share with your friends!
Interest in Project 2025 has skyrocketed across social media platforms in recent days, with internet users showing more interest in Project 2025 than Trump or Biden.
But it’s still not enough to make Project 2025, and that’s what it will take to defeat it in November.
So why aren’t we making more headway, despite the recent uptick in interest in Project 2025? The media is still too obsessed with the made-up Biden’s age crisis (which, again, isn’t even new), to focus on an actual threat like the rapid erosion of our rights and freedoms and descent into Christian nationalism. The New York Times published 192 articles containing information about Biden’s age, plus 50 opinion pieces, which pales against the amount of information they’ve put out about the corrupt Heritage Foundation and their terrifying plans for the United States.
So we have to take matters into our own hands: Have more face-to-face conversations within our circles of influence. Drown the social media algorithms with Project 2025 information.
Because here’s what we know for sure: Project 2025 will help Democrats win the election and restore faith in our democracy.
Project 2025 is a loser for Trump because its policies are unpopular with voters, according to a YouGov poll.
Abolishing the Department of Education, cutting corporate taxes and giving the president more control over the civil service and independent federal agencies were amongst the least popular of the questions asked.
So, Democrats: Stop agonizing and start organizing. Here’s some resources you can peruse to get involved and save democracy:
Mobilize.us will help you sign up for phone banking, canvassing, and other Get Out the Vote activities in your area.
State Democratic party websites will have information about how to participate in local, state, and national races in your area.
Worried about the attack on abortion and reproductive rights? Click on this to volunteer for Planned Parenthood in your area.
To protect our civil liberties, take action with the ACLU.
Joe Biden is the Democratic choice for president. See that he secures another four years, but volunteering or working for his campaign.
There are hundreds more organizations out there and hundreds of ways to get involved. Whatever you do, don’t just agonize. Organize.
And if you can spare just a little more effort, sharing Project 2025 Takedown with 10 friends will help me continue to do this important work.
Onward, Democracy Defenders!
